Electronic Student Refunds
Pitt Community College uses Nelnet to process tuition and financial aid refunds. Students can choose from three refund methods:
- Direct Deposit: Have the refund sent directly to your personal bank account. This is typically the fastest and most convenient option.
- Reloadable Debit Card: Receive your refund on a reloadable debit card.
- Paper Check: Receive a refund by mailed paper check.
If you do not select an electronic refund method, Nelnet will send a paper check by default.
How to Select Your Refund Method
To select or update your refund method:
- Log in to your myPittCC account.
- Hover over Students to open the drop-down menu.
- Under Financial Information, select Refunds.
- You will be directed to the Nelnet website.
- Follow the instructions to set up your profile.
- Select your preferred refund method and click Save.
What Happens After You Select Your Refund Method?
Once the refund file is processed, Nelnet will send you a Student Refund Notification by email. Your refund will appear as Pending on your Refund History tab.
You will have approximately 24 hours from the time the notification is sent to make changes to your refund method. After that, your refund will be processed using your selected method, and the status will update to Sent to Processor.
All future communications about your refund will come from Nelnet.
How Long Will It Take?
Direct deposit is typically the fastest way to receive your refund. Paper checks may take longer because they are sent by mail. Processing and delivery times may vary depending on the refund method selected.
