WINTERVILLE—Visitors to Pitt Community College’s Craig M. Goess Construction and Industrial Technology Building now have a visual reminder of T.A. Loving Company’s support for the college’s efforts to prepare a skilled local workforce.

Last year, the Goldsboro-based commercial construction company made a generous donation to the PCC Foundation through its R.A. Bryan Foundation to secure naming rights for the CIT Building lobby. As a result, a “T.A. Loving Lobby” sign affixed to a wall near the facility’s entrance commemorates the company’s close relationship with Pitt.

“The CIT Division has been working with T.A. Loving for several years now and it’s led to development of a pathway from the classroom to employment for many of our students,” PCC CIT Dean Steven Mathews said. “T.A. Loving has dedicated countless resources to our Building Construction Technology program to ensure our students receive a thorough education that serves as the foundation for successful careers.”

In addition to hiring PCC graduates, Mathews said T.A. Loving has been a tremendous advocate for apprenticeships that allow Pitt building construction students to gain valuable professional experience with the company as they complete their college coursework.

PCC Foundation Executive Director Beth Sigmon said the significance of T.A. Loving’s support for Pitt cannot be overstated.

“It’s a relationship that grows stronger with each passing year and has such a positive effect on our effort to provide quality, hands-on training to students pursuing employment in the construction trades,” she said. “But it’s not just PCC who benefits from their generosity; T.A. Loving is a community-minded company that supports all of eastern North Carolina.”

Founded by Taylor Abbit Loving, T.A. Loving Company has been providing complete pre-construction and construction services to a variety of industries, including health care, athletics, higher education, K-12 education and utilities, for nearly 100 years.
