Sigmon Promoted to PCC Foundation Executive Director

WINTERVILLE—A little more than a year after joining Pitt Community College to raise money for the PCC Foundation, Georgia “Beth” Sigmon has been promoted.

Earlier this month, PCC Vice President of Institutional Advancement (IA) Marianne Cox announced that Sigmon is now serving as executive director of the college’s chief fundraising organization.

“Beth was the perfect choice to serve as the foundation’s executive director,” Cox said. “She knows the community well, has extensive fundraising experience, and understands the pivotal role the PCC Foundation plays in supporting the college’s contributions toward building a skilled local workforce.”

In her new role, Sigmon, who was hired as PCC Director of Development/Campaign Manager in March 2018, will work with PCC Foundation Board members on developing and implementing fundraising strategies. She will also oversee IA staff responsible for event planning, alumni relations and resource development/donor data.

“Pitt Community College is a wonderful institution where everyone is focused on students and helping them achieve their educational goals,” Sigmon said. “It’s truly a joy to raise funds here. Our foundation board members are actively engaged, our donors are generous and believe in our mission, and our Institutional Advancement Division is truly a team.”

In addition to the Employee Annual Fund Drive currently taking place, Sigmon’s immediate priorities are the 18th Annual Down East Holiday Show Oct. 31–Nov. 3 and raising $1 million by the end of the year to match a $2 million-offer from the Eddie and Jo Allison Smith Family Foundation.

“Whether it’s raising money for a capital campaign that results in additional classroom space, fundraising for a program needed by the local workforce, or helping establish more scholarships, my goal for the PCC Foundation is to make sure that students who want a college education have the opportunity to receive one at PCC,” Sigmon said.

Prior to working at Pitt, Sigmon spent 15 years with Vidant Health Foundation. She was the organization’s marketing analyst for 10 years before being named its senior administrator/major gifts officer.
