PCC to Host Four Fundraisers on Campus April 30

WINTERVILLE—Pitt Community College will raise money for higher education this month through a combination of manicured yards, classic cars, perennials, secondhand goods, auction items, Luke Duke and Brie the Plant Lady.
On April 30, the PCC campus will host an Outdoor Living Tour & Auction, yard sale, car show and plant sale to raise money for the PCC Foundation, Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Honor Society, and the college’s automotive and horticulture programs, respectively.
“After two years of almost no in-person events, it appears the PCC campus community was eager for a return to normalcy this spring,” said PCC Events Specialist Jennifer Vogt. “Hopefully, the diverse combination of fundraisers will appeal to a broad audience and lead to a good turnout for some great causes.”
For the second straight year, the foundation’s spring fundraiser will feature an online auction and tour of homes to generate revenue for scholarships and educational activities. It will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Auction bidding begins April 25. For those wanting to view items in person, they will be on display near the PCC Greenhouse on Spaulding Street the day of the fundraiser.
Tour tickets are $30 per person and available for purchase on the foundation website. They will also be sold at the registration tent near the greenhouse the day of the event. Those who purchase tickets online must stop by the registration tent for a booklet with tour details that also serves as their admission ticket to each property.
To help kick off the fundraiser, Brie Arthur – known for her leadership with the national foodscaping movement – will give a presentation at 11 a.m. near the greenhouse. A professional horticulturist, ‘Brie the Plant Lady’ will share tips to help gardeners get the most out of the square footage available to them.
Nearby, the PCC Horticulture Technology program will be wrapping up its spring plant sale between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Along with mixed planters and hanging baskets, the sale features perennial and annual bedding plants and several varieties of trees and shrubs.
The 5th Annual PCC Car Club Car Show will take place outside of the Craig M. Goess Construction & Industrial Technology Building, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Special guest Tom Wopat, best known for his role as Luke Duke on the “Dukes of Hazzard,” will sign autographs and pose for pictures with fans from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Registration for the car show runs from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The cost is $20 per entry, and trophies will be awarded in eight different categories, starting at 2 p.m.
PTK’s yard sale will be held in the parking lot in front of the William E. Fulford Building, from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. Setup begins at 6 a.m., and spaces must be cleaned up by noon.
Community members can participate by reserving parking spaces the morning of the event for $15 per space. Sellers must provide their own tables and can park their vehicles in a separate space at no additional charge.
