PCC to Host Competition for $5,000-Scholarship

WINTERVILLE—Pitt Community College is partnering with Bob 93.3 and Minges Bottling Group this summer on a competition that will result in a $5,000-scholarship for one lucky student.
“Tuition Mission” – similar to the reality television show, “Survivor” – will pit students against each another in a series of physical and mental challenges that take place on and off campus Aug. 13-14. Competitors will stay together for the entire two-day period as they strive to earn the most points in each challenge.
When the competition ends, the student with the most points will be declared the winner and receive a scholarship to attend PCC. The funds will be distributed through the PCC Foundation, with the student receiving $2,500 for the 2019 Fall Semester and another $2,500 for the ensuing spring term.
“Bob 93.3 has held this competition for the past five years and came to us with the proposal that this year’s competition be for PCC students only, and we loved that idea,” PCC Marketing Director Jane Power said.
Power said current and prospective PCC students are eligible to apply for “Tuition Mission” participation, as long as they are enrolled (or intend to enroll) full-time with at least a 2.5 GPA. She said applications will be accepted through July 12 and participants selected by July 25.
