WINTERVILLE—Pitt Community College’s Continuing Education Division will help students ‘skill up’ for new careers this summer by offering free, short-term training through the N.C. Community College System’s Project Skill-Up program.

Funded by the N.C. Tobacco Trust Fund Commission, the “Tools for Advanced Manufacturing and Pharmaceutical Industry” training is an opportunity for individuals to earn portable industry credentials in just four weeks.

Instruction will concentrate on Lean/Six Yellow Belt certification, OSHA 10, leadership, problem-solving and troubleshooting, workplace communications and Oral solid dose Techceuticals. Students will also learn how to develop resumes and practice interviewing for jobs.

The first week of training will be held June 25-28. Week two will take place July 9-12, week three runs July 16-18, and the schedule for week four will be announced at a later date. Classes will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

To be considered for Project Skill-Up participation, individuals must have completed National Career Readiness Certificate testing. Funds are available to those still needing to test. Prospective students are asked to call (252) 493-7885 for details.
