PCC Inviting Prospective Students to ‘Adult College Expo’

WINTERVILLE—Pitt Community College will hold an informational program June 5 for nontraditional students considering college enrollment for the first time or returning to higher education.
The 3rd Annual Adult College Expo will take place in the Craig F. Goess Student Center’s Davenport Multipurpose Room from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. It is free and open to the public.
PCC Recruitment and New Student Orientation Coordinator John Carrere says that in addition to helping attendees get started on the pathway to success, the Expo is an opportunity for them to meet with representatives from local businesses seeking to fill open positions.
“We’ll have local industries that need workers with specialized training paired with our academic divisions, so those who come out for the Expo can easily see the connection between the degrees and certifications PCC offers and gainful employment,” Carrere said.
Villa Verde will offer Expo participants an opportunity to taste authentic Dominican Republic cuisine. The restaurant’s owners, Yordanys and Eridania Bastardo, are a PCC Small Business Center success story, having utilized its services to turn their food truck operation into a successful brick-and-mortar restaurant on 10th Street in Greenville.
Carrere says the Expo will also include an outdoor exhibition on setting up a successful and legal drone business and the requirements for obtaining an FAA-Part 107 Commercial Drone Pilot License.
