PCC Fulbright Liaison, Dr. Stephanie Rook, Meets with American Indonesian Exchange Foundation Representatives

On Friday, May 24, 2024, Dr. Stephanie Rook, PCC’s Fulbright Liaison, met with representatives from the American Indonesian Exchange Foundation at the Carolina Asia Center located at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Dr. Rook, along with Ms. Ceacealia Dewitha, Program Officer AMINEF, Grants for Americans; and Ms. Mita Miftahul, Communications Officer AMINEF; discussed Fulbright opportunities for both American and Indonesian college students and faculty, including the English Language Teaching Assistant program as well as Fulbright U. S. Scholar teaching and research awards.

An award for Indonesian students, the Community College Initiative Program, is designed to build participants’ technical skills in applied fields, enhance their leadership capabilities and strengthen their English language proficiency through enrollment at American community colleges.

Dr. Kevin Fogg, Associate Director of the Carolina Asia Center, facilitated the meeting and collaborates with regional and international institutions to develop educational programs that focus on Asia.

Pitt CC, which was named a 2023 Top Producing Institution of Fulbright U.S. Scholars, has previously hosted Fulbright Research Scholar Dr. Eddy Nurtjahya from Universitas Bangka Belitung in Indonesia. PCC also founded the first joint degree program between a U.S. community college and a Chinese technological institute, the Wuxi Institute of Technology (WXIT), graduating over 300 PCC/WXIT alumni in Mechanical Engineering Technology.
