Music Department Preparing for Annual BHM Concert

WINTERVILLE—The Pitt Community College Music Department will present its annual “Black Composers Concert” in celebration of Black History Month Feb. 21 at Koinonia Christian Center in Greenville.
The concert, which begins at 7 p.m., will feature performances by several of the college’s musical groups, including the PCC Symphony Orchestra, PCC Chorale, Elements of Praise and PCC Jazz Band. They will be joined by the Emerald City Big Band, J.H. Rose High School choir and, for the very first time, the Eastern Youth Orchestra.
The program will feature a variety of selections, from Joseph Bologne and Chevalier de Saint-Georges to Stevie Wonder. Audience members will be invited to join in singing Roland Carter’s arrangement of “Lift Every Voice and Sing.”
Though the concert is free and open to the public, donations will be accepted to support future PCC Music Department activities. Additional concert details are available by contacting PCC Music and Drama Coordinator R. Michael Stephenson at rmstephenson701@my.pittcc.edu or (252) 493-7493.
