Jenni K. Jewelry Sale to Benefit VISIONS Program

WINTERVILLE—Jenni K. Jewelry has scheduled a sale this month that will benefit students participating in Pitt Community College’s VISIONS Career Development and Scholarship Program.

Scheduled for Aug. 6, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., the “Annual Half-Off Sale” is open to the public and will take place at the Arlington Village store, located at 727 Red Banks Road. Jenni K. Jewelry has pledged to donate 10 percent of every purchase made during the event to the PCC Foundation, which raises money throughout the year for student scholarships and various educational activities.

PCC Events Specialist Erin Greenleaf says the PCC Foundation is always excited about partnering with businesses in the community to benefit students and that “great things happen” whenever the college works in tandem with Jenni K. Jewelry.

“Jenni K. Jewelry has long demonstrated its commitment to education and Pitt Community College’s efforts to prepare a skilled local workforce by participating in the PCC Foundation’s Down East Holiday Show and spring auction for more than a decade,” Greenleaf said. “We are grateful for Jenni K.’s support and hope people will come out to the sale on Tuesday and make it a tremendous success.”

Greenleaf says the money raised through the Jenni K. sale will be used to help the PCC Foundation match a significant donation offer from the Eddie & Jo Allison Smith Family Foundation. She explained that the Smith Family Foundation has promised to provide as much as $2 million to the VISIONS program by matching every dollar the PCC Foundation raises for VISIONS this year with two dollars from their charitable organization.

Started 15 years ago to help reduce Pitt County’s high school drop-out rate and increase the number of students attending college, VISIONS is the product of a partnership between the PCC Foundation, Pitt County Schools and the Eddie & Jo Allison Smith Family Foundation. To date, the program has served nearly 900 Pitt County students, 97 percent of whom completed high school on time.

Students accepted into VISIONS receive a combination of mentoring and academic and career counseling during their final year of high school. Once they graduate, those who enroll at PCC receive scholarships.
