Financial Aid Schedules Events to Assist FAFSA Filers

WINTERVILLE—The Pitt Community College Financial Aid Office has planned several events this fall to answer financial aid questions and assist students with filing Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) forms for the 2020-21 academic year.
According to PCC Financial Aid Director Lee Bray, the department is again holding “FAFSA Mondays” the first Monday of each month. The next program, she said, will take place Nov. 4, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., in the Craig F. Goess Student Center (Room 178). Another is set for Dec. 2 at the same time and location.
Later this month, Bray says PCC will host “FAFSA Day” as part of a statewide initiative to assist students with filing financial aid paperwork. The program will take place in the Goess Student Center (Room 178) on Oct. 26, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. It is open to all students, regardless of their intended college destination.
Bray said that before attending a PCC FAFSA event, students must create a Federal Student Aid ID at www.FSAID.ed.gov. She said the ID gives them access to Federal Student Aid’s online systems and can serve as a legal signature.
In addition to the ID and password, Bray said students must also bring their 2018 tax return in order to complete a FAFSA. She said students who are dependents must bring the same information for their parents as well.
