Costa Rica Trip in 2020 Open to Campus and Community

WINTERVILLE—Pitt Community College is seeking travelers interested in participating in a nine-day excursion to the Central American nation of Costa Rica in 2020.

Organized by Education First (EF) College Study Tours, the “Environment & Culture in Cost Rica” venture will take place May 13-21. It is open to PCC employees, students and alumni as well as members of the community.

“I can’t say enough positive things about this trip or the beautiful country of Costa Rica,” said PCC General Occupational Technology Instructor/Advisor Don King. “At its heart, Costa Rica has an amazing landscape that is home to nearly five percent of the world’s biodiversity.”

King, who is heading up the journey, says participants will see a great deal of the Costa Rican countryside as they travel to such places as San Jose, Los Chiles, Monteverde and Sarchi and learn about endangered ecosystems. The itinerary includes a boat tour of Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge, a crocodile river tour, and stops at Arenal hot springs, a coffee plantation, La Fortuna Waterfall, Manuel Antonio National Park, and Santa Elena Cloud Forest Reserve.

The cost of the excursion is $2,745 (triple or quad room occupancy) per person for individuals 29 years old and under and $2,865 (double occupancy) for travelers 30 and over. Rates cover transportation, lodging, meals, activities, entrance tickets and a full-time tour director. A $200-early enrollment discount is available until June 30.
