Strategic Planning

The core reasons why social media is such a phenomenon in our culture and how businesses can leverage it for success. The lesson includes reviewing of overarching principles, and different content types, as well as the pros and cons of each platform.

Compliance and Governance

How to build a roadmap for your business in social media from competitive audits, persona mapping, and creating a brand personality. The lesson shows how to complete a social voice exercise and how to apply that to brand value pillars.

Social Media Marketing

Compelling content and best practices for each channel. We also review how to repurpose long-form content to make several assets and build out your social media calendar.

Project and Campaign Management

Dealing with negative feedback and effective responses for different types of complainers. The lesson includes how to run a social media war room as well as partner with other departments to respond effectively.

Community Management

Amplifying content through paid media in the form of advertising or influencer-based partnerships. We will discuss different levels of partnerships, and outreach, as well as the best strategies for paid media.

Research and Analysis

How to report on your social media efforts and what goes into creating a social media report. The lesson will review best practices, units of measure, and how to overcome roadblocks.

Capstone Project (Level 3 Only)

Groups of students will be paired with a small business in need of social media guidance. During this project you will see how the social media strategies learned in this course can positively impact a small business.

Meet Your Instructors

Jennifer Radke
Jennifer Radke is a marketing executive, investor, mentor, and content expert with over 20 years of operational leadership experience. Amie became a certified Social Media Strategist in 2022 and is the current President & CEO of Creative Allies, a minority-owned, female-led digital marketing firm based in North Carolina for entrepreneurs driving unparalleled brand engagement through compelling creative, digital technology, strategic, and social influencer management. Since 2010, Creative Allies’ global cohort of creatives has executed more than hundreds of marketing campaigns for all types of clients. Her company has executed social media fan engagement campaigns with celebrity and consumer brands, ranging from ESPN and Arizona Iced Tea to Twenty One Pilots and Selena Gomez as well as performed digital marketing for NC-based companies such as NC IDEA, UNC, NC Central, Habitat for Humanity, and Vanguard Sports Group, among others. Outside of digital marketing, Amie’s passion is using her expertise to help business leaders thrive, entrepreneurs chase their dreams, organizations meet financial goals, and employees find the right fit for their careers.

Ami Thompson
Amie Thompson is an international speaker, author, and strategic business leader with over 15 years of experience in sales and recruitment leadership. The real-world solutions she brings to the business stem from her experience coaching, developing, and training employees and have made her a highly sought-after speaker and trainer for businesses of all sizes. Before purchasing the National Institute for Social Media (NISM) in 2016, “the social CEO” was the owner and chief strategist at Socially Inspired, a social media training and consulting company that is still serving small and medium-sized businesses today. She has previously served on the board for Women Entrepreneurs of Minnesota (WeMN) and currently volunteers her time speaking about the professional uses of social media for those in job transition. She also keeps her social media skills fresh by acting as the Social Media Strategist for the Feed My Starving Children South Metro MobilePack in her hometown in southern Minnesota. Jennifer has an MS in Organizational Leadership in addition to being a NISM-certified Social Media Strategist (SMS) and instructor. She is also currently an Associate Professor at St. Mary’s University of Minnesota teaching Ethics in Social Media and the author of Stories from the Social Side: Advice from Marketing Professionals to Marketing Professionals.
