Our synchronous insurance classes are live, real-time online learning experiences. Think of it like a traditional classroom, but virtual! You’ll connect with your instructor and classmates at scheduled times for lectures, discussions, and activities, fostering a sense of community and immediate interaction.
Asynchronous insurance classes offer learning on your own schedule. Course materials like videos, readings, and assignments are accessible anytime, allowing you to learn at your own pace and fit your studies around your life. There are no set meeting times – you engage with the content and complete activities according to your availability.
Pitt Community College offers a variety of pre-licensing courses that include Life, Health, Medicare Supplement/Long term care, Property, Casualty, Personal Lines, and Adjuster. Students interested in taking these courses can choose from two online delivery options: Synchronous or Asynchronous classes. Due to the nature of live classes, synchronous classes’ costs are more than asynchronous classes.
PCC’s insurance pre-licensing classes are done in partnership with Insurance Educational Systems, an approved educational provider with the Department of Insurance.
NOTE: The insurance program at Pitt Community College offers classes for individuals who wish to obtain their insurance agent license in North Carolina. The classes provided by Pitt Community College in partnership with Insurance Educational Systems prepare students to be successful on the NC Department of Insurance state licensure exams. The state licensure exams can be extremely challenging. Information covered within the prelicensing courses along with course activities provides the knowledge necessary to prepare students and enter the testing environment with confidence. Students wishing to be licensed insurance agents or adjusters in other states should contact the Department of Insurance of that state which oversees insurance agent licenses for their specific requirements.
