Drive Your Career Forward: CDL Training at Pitt Community College

Interested in getting your Commercial Driver’s License? Take CDL classes at Pitt Community College! PittCC now offers comprehensive CDL training for Class A and Class B licenses.

A Class A license is considered the “universal” CDL, providing the operator the ability to drive multiple types of commercial trucks and tractor trailers. The Class A program totals 200 hours, taught over five weeks or 12 weekends. The first 80 hours are face-to-face. The last three weeks of class have varying times for daytime and nighttime driving.

A Class B license allows the operator to drive many of the same vehicles, but is more limiting than a class A. The Class B program totals 160 hours, taught over four weeks. The first 80 hours of the class are face-to-face, and the last 80 hours of class have varying times for daytime driving.

Cost for CDL Training

The cost of the Class A program, including all materials and instruction, is $1,184.55. The cost of the Class B program, including all materials and instruction, is $835.55. The cost for the 2-week Refresher Course is $685.55. There is an additional $200 fee for drug screening, physical, and background check. To start the program, students must pass all aspects of the pre-screening process. Students will pay $175 directly to the NC DMV for their permit and license.

CDL Training Requirements

• Students must be at least 18 years of age
• Have a valid Social Security Card
• Possess a valid driver’s license
• Have an acceptable driving record
