Career & College Promise (CCP) Workforce Pathways
Career and College Promise (CCP) Workforce Continuing Education (WCE) Pathways allow eligible high school juniors and seniors to earn industry-recognized credentials while still in high school—at no cost for registration fees.
Through CCP, students may enroll in short-term workforce training courses offered through the Continuing Education division, such as EMT, Nurse Aide I, Pharmacy Technician, and Fire Fighter Academy. For eligible 11th- and 12th-grade students, the $180 registration fee is waived; however, students are responsible for the cost of textbooks, supplies, and any required PCC local course fees.
Students are eligible to receive high school credit for successful completion of CCP Workforce Pathway courses contingent upon the approval of the Career and Technical Education Director or Chief Academic Officer of their educational agency.
How to Register
- Ask your high school principal or their designee to complete a Verification of Eligibility Form. A copy of your high school transcript must be attached to the form.
- Complete a Pitt Community College Student Data Form, Registration Form and provide all admission requirements.
- Submit all forms and admissions requirements to the Continuing Education and Records Department, located in the Goess Student Center, Room 130. You may contact the office by phone at 252-493-7388 or by email at continuingeducation@my.pittcc.edu. Students must also submit documentation for any required course prerequisites at the time of registration.
- The $180 registration fee is waived through CCP; however, students are responsible for the cost of textbooks, supplies, and any required PCC local course fees. Scholarships are available for students who qualify.
IMPORTANT:
High School students are limited to enrolling in no more than two (2) Career & College Promise pathways during the semester in which the continuing education course is offered. Your High School Program’s advisor will ensure you are not enrolled in more than two pathways before they approve your Verification of Eligibility Form. Other prerequisite documentation may be required for some CCP WCE pathways – your High School Programs representative can assist you with questions.
Current CCP Workforce Pathways
Nurse Aide I
Description: This is a 16-week course designed to prepare the student to provide personal care and basic nursing skills. Course content includes but is not limited to: role of the nurse aide, infection control, communication, and resident’s rights.
Industry Credential: Nurse Aide I with NC Department of Health Service Regulation
Prerequisite: Students must be a 12th grader with an unweighted GPA of 2.8 OR assessment scores from Attachment A (see above hyperlink to Verification of Eligibility Form) OR recommendation of high school principal or his/her designee with written rational for recommendation. Career Readiness Certificate, or a Math & English college course with at least a grade of “C” or better (unofficial College Transcript) are also accepted in lieu of the assessment scores.

Costs: $180 registration fee waived. Estimated $600 for book and fees.
Pharmacy Technician
Description: This is a 16-week course designed to prepare the student through classroom instruction to enter the pharmacy field as a Pharmacy Technician I. Core course concept is basic training in pharmacy and pharmacology.
Industry Credential: Pharmacy Technician with Pharmacy Technician Certification Board
Prerequisite: Students must have an unweighted GPA of 2.8 OR assessment scores from Attachment A (see the Verification of Eligibility Form) OR recommendation of high school principal or his/her designee with written rational for recommendation.
Participating School Districts: D. H. Conley HS, Rose HS, Ayden Grifton HS, South Central HS, Farmville Central HS, North Pitt HS, Pitt County Early College HS.
Costs: $180 registration fee waived. Estimated $250 book & fees.
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
Description: EMT is a 16-week course introducing students to emergency prehospital care. Upon completion of this course, students will be credentialed to provide emergency care at the EMT level. The schedule includes online course components along with weeknight and Saturday sessions.
Industry Credential: EMT Initial state credential through NC Office of Emergency Medical Services
Prerequisite: Students must be a 12th grader with an unweighted GPA of 2.8 OR assessment scores from Attachment A (see the Verification of Eligibility Form) OR written letter of recommendation of high school principal or his/her designee with written rational.
Participating School Districts: D. H. Conley HS, Rose HS, Ayden Grifton HS, South Central HS, Farmville Central HS, North Pitt HS, Pitt County Early College HS.
Costs: $180 registration fee waived. Estimated $160 books & fees.
