College to Offer New Framing and Carpentry Course

GREENVILLE—Pitt Community College will offer a new Framing and Carpentry course through its Continuing Education Division starting this fall.
The 48-hour class begins Aug. 17 and will cover essential building materials and tools, OSHA safety rules and basic blueprint reading. Participants will also build a structure as part of the course and visit a construction site for a real-world look at the skills they are learning.
The class, which results in a certificate of completion for those who finish it, will be offered in English and Spanish (through an interpreter). It will meet on Fridays, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., and Saturdays, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The cost is approximately $131, and tuition aid is available for those who qualify.
