WINTERVILLE—Nearly 500 members of Pitt Community College’s Class of 2024 participated in spring commencement at East Carolina University’s Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum May 7.

The ceremony featured Hank Dunbar, manager of First Citizens Bank’s Charitable and Philanthropic Group, as graduation speaker. Prior to joining First Citizens in 2014, Dunbar spent 15 years developing and leading charitable and philanthropic organizations.

For Dr. Lawrence Rouse, spring graduation was his last as Pitt’s president. In January, he informed the PCC Board of Trustees that he would be officially retiring on June 30, after spending the past six years with Pitt, to devote more time to his wife, Janie, three children and granddaughter.

Collectively, PCC’s 643 spring graduates earned 1,079 degrees, diplomas and/or certificates.
