“After 12 years as a stay-at-home mom, I returned to school at PCC for its affordable and comprehensive courses. The rigorous curriculum and supportive faculty help me thrive, and online classes give me the flexibility I need. I stay organized by keeping up with assignments and prioritizing my mental health with breaks. My advice for future students: seek internships for hands-on experience! Thanks to my advisor, I’ve been working as a part-time Accounting Assistant, applying my classroom knowledge in a real-world setting. This blend of education and experience is key for my future career in accounting and financial services!”

“If I had known then what I know now, I would have started my education much sooner after being discharged from the military. My main concerns were providing for my family and whether or not school was the right path for me. However, with the help of financial aid, veteran’s benefits, and a reliable work study position, I am able to focus on my studies while maintaining a healthy work-life balance. Lastly, for never having enjoyed school before, it’s completely different learning what I choose and seeing progress toward a better life and a career that gives me purpose as I once felt in the military.”

“Approach this field [Human Services] as a calling. Come in with an open mind and let the program fill you up like a cup. Embrace the challenges that come with it, as it won’t be easy. Networking with classmates is crucial for success, so make an effort to build relationships and boost each other’s confidence.”
ALMON-RE ALSTON PCC Human Services Graduate 2018
“In 2017, I graduated from PCC with a degree in Healthcare Management and spent over 5 years working in medical administration. However, I realized I wanted to be more hands-on with patient care and work in the clinical setting. My passion for helping others led me to pursue a career that’s both challenging and rewarding. To anyone thinking about joining the Medical Sonography program, my advice is simple: give it your all! The next two years will be an incredible journey, with amazing instructors and clinical preceptors who will equip you with everything you need to succeed as a sonographer. Soak it all in and learn as much as you can—you’ve got this!”
