Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Honor Society
Why Join Phi Theta Kappa?
Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) is the premier honor society for students at two-year colleges, created to recognize academic excellence and help students succeed beyond the classroom.
At Pitt Community College, the Beta Nu Upsilon Chapter connects high-achieving students with scholarships, leadership opportunities, service projects, and a supportive community of peers who are working toward their goals.
Whether you know exactly where you’re headed or you’re still figuring it out, PTK helps you stand out and move forward. Membership shows colleges, employers, and scholarship providers that you are committed to academic success and personal growth.
Who Can Join?
Students who have completed at least 12 hours of college-level coursework and maintain a 3.5 GPA or higher may be eligible to join. Invitations are sent by email each September and February.
More Than an Honor Society
PTK members participate in meaningful service projects that make a real impact both on campus and in the community—from voter registration drives and flu shot clinics to food bank support, disaster relief efforts, and regional leadership initiatives.
Many students also join to access scholarship opportunities, transfer benefits, graduation regalia, and special recognition such as graduation cords for active members.
