Our Mission Statement

We believe that athletic participation is a privilege and seeks to provide an environment. Student-athletes not only represent themselves and their families, they represent Pitt Community College and we strive for each student-athlete to embrace the responsibility that role entails and carry that label with pride and dignity. PCC Athletics is committed to providing the best opportunities for our student-athletes that will allow individual growth and team success as well as create opportunities.

Donor Support

Your contribution makes a significant impact on Bulldog Athletics. Every single gift, whether one-time or recurring, helps to support and strengthen the Pitt CC Athletics program. As a donor, you play a crucial role in the success of our student-athletes, enabling them to thrive both on and off the field. Your support is invaluable to us, and we are incredibly grateful for your generosity.

For Our Athletes

Athletes must abide by the rules and regulations set forth by the Department of Athletics and its coaching staff and are subject to all rules governing the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and Region Ten in which we participate. Student-athletes must maintain a minimum grade point average, which meets or exceeds the NJCAA requirements for participation as well as guidelines set forth by the Athletic Department and Pitt Community College.

Sports

Baseball

Started in 1995, PittCC’s baseball program has emerged as a perennial national contender that consistently produces a number of student-athletes that have continued their baseball careers at four-year institutions and professionally.  The Diamond Bulldogs have won five Region Tournament Titles and have made two appearances at the NJCAA World Series. Several former Bulldogs that have reached the Major Leagues include Freddie Bynum, Lonnie Chisenhall and Jeff Ferrell.

Men’s Basketball

In a state rich in basketball history, PittCC took its first turn on the hardwood in 1969. Struggling initially and after a season of non-participation, the Bulldogs found momentum and success under legendary coach Charles Coburn. The program was discontinued after Coburn’s retirement in 1993, but was resurrected 15 years later and returned to NJCAA participation for the 2008-2009 season. The Bulldogs made their first National Tournament appearance in 2018-2019.

Softball

PittCC’s softball program has flourished on the diamond since its inception in the early 2000’s. In addition to producing numerous All Region performers, PittCC’s softball program is also known for producing NJCAA Academic All-Americans. The program has recorded several Region Championships to go along with five National Tournament appearances, including back-to-back runs in 2010-2011 and 2017-18.

Volleyball

Pitt CC volleyball program was established in 2000. Since its inception, the Bulldogs continue to build a solid foundation that has found success through hard work and local recruitment. The Bulldogs have won a handful of Region Championships and have made two appearances at the National Tournament.
