Career Assessments

Career Services offers students and alumni the opportunity to take career assessments free of charge to assist in the self-exploration process. We have a variety of assessments available online as well as paper and pencil. Please contact us to determine the best assessment for you.

Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)

This personality assessment looks at who you are as a person and how it can impact your career choices. It is based on the theory that understanding your strengths and personality type will help you understand the types of careers and activities in which you might thrive and enjoy. The MBTI Career Report will have a list of possible careers based on your personality type that you may enjoy. It will take approximately 20-30 minutes to complete the assessment online.

Strong Interest Inventory (Strong)

The Strong measures your preferences towards a large range of occupations, work tasks, leisure activities, and academic subjects. It then compares your interests to those in a variety of occupations who enjoy their work. The Strong also provides information on how your interests can be linked to majors, campus activities, co-ops, and part-time jobs. A list of possible occupations will be generated and the assessment will take approximately 30-40 minutes to complete online.

College Foundation of North Carolina (CFNC)

CFNC has a variety of online career assessments available. Assessments include the Interest Profiler, Work Values Sorter, and Ability Profiler. While the assessments are accessible through the CFNC site, you will need to create a profile in order to access assessments.

Life Values Inventory (LVI)

This inventory gives people the opportunity to define and prioritize their values system. Having an understanding of your values allows you to critically examine which occupations would be a good fit and feel most satisfying. The assessment takes approximately 20 minutes to complete in person and is also available online.
