AFA CyberCamp Registration is Underway

Morning sun shines on the Robert Lee Humber Building columns.

WINTERVILLE—The 2023 Pitt Community College-Air Force Association (AFA) CyberCamp will take place on PCC’s main campus June 12-16 for rising 8th-12th-graders interested in learning about cyber defense.

Registration is underway. The cost is $131.55 per person, which includes instructional materials and a camp T-shirt. Space is limited and offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

PCC Computer Technologies Department Chair Greg Robison says campers will meet in the Robert Lee Humber Building (Room 211) each day, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. He said students would learn how to protect their personal devices and information from outside threats, as well as how to harden entire networks running Windows and Linux operating systems.

The camp, Robison says, will feature hands-on instruction and is designed for students new to cybersecurity. Each day of camp will focus on a different set of topics, including the CyberPatriot National Youth Cyber Defense Competition, cybersecurity careers and principles, basic Windows security policies, cyber threats, and an introduction to Linux.

Robison says a Mini-CyberPatriot competition will take place the final day of camp, pitting students compete against one another on Windows 10 and Linux competition images.
