Continuing Education Placement Testing

When students arrive for testing they should state what program they are testing for.

Test scores are valid for 3 years unless otherwise noted by your intended program.

Students that complete continuing education programs may be required to complete additional testing in order to enroll in a curriculum course(s).

Placement Testing offers placement testing for the following Continuing Education Programs at no charge to the student:

For more information or to schedule an appointment to take one of these test, please visit the Office of Placement Testing located in the Warren Building, Room 2402 or call 252-493-7561. We accept walk-ins, but not tests will be administered after 3:00 p.m.

Placement Testing Policies

  • Test scores are valid for 3 years unless otherwise noted.
  • A valid photo ID is required to test.
  • BLET students are required to bring a BLET Testing Permit to their scheduled placement test (students should contact BLET at 252-493-7572 to obtain a permit).

Basic Law Enforcement Enforcement Training (BLET)

Students enrolling into the BLET program are required to score in the 10th grade level or higher in reading. The Placement Testing Office offers the CASAS Reading test for BLET students. The CASAS assessment is computerized.

Cosmetology

The PCC Testing Center will be offering licensing testing (written portion only) for Cosmetology and Cosmetology disciplines – cosmetologist, esthetician, nail technician, and natural hair care beginning January 2023. Qualified applicants must register through Prov.

Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)

Students enrolling in the EMT program are required to score in the 11th grade level or higher on the CASAS Reading and Arithmetic assessments. The Placement Testing Office offers the CASAS Reading and Arithmetic for EMT students. The CASAS assessment is computerized.

Nursing Assistant I & II (NA I & NA II) and Phlebotomy

Students enrolling in a Nursing Assistant or Phlebotomy program are required to take the ACCUPLACER Reading Comprehension AND Arithmetic exams. The ACCUPLACER placement tests are untimed, computerized, multiple-choice exams.

Score Requirements for Nursing Assistant I and II (NA I and NAII) Phlebotomy:

ACCUPLACER Reading Comprehension
Nursing Assistant and Phlebotomy students are required to score a 200+ on the ACCUPLACER NEXT-GENERATION Reading Comprehension test in order to meet reading requirements for Nursing Assistant and/or Phlebotomy.

ACCUPLACER Arithmetic
Nursing Assistant and Phlebotomy students are required to score a 237+ on the ACCUPLACER NEXT-GENERATION Arithmetic.
