Academic Placement

The Reinforced Instruction for Student Excellence (RISE) placement test determines where you will start your coursework at PCC.

The College-Level Examination Program® (CLEP) gives you the opportunity to receive college credit for what you already know by earning qualifying scores on any of 34 examinations. You can earn credit for knowledge you’ve acquired through independent study, prior course work, on-the-job training, professional development, cultural pursuits, or internships.

The Foreign Language Placement Test is available for current PCC students as well as prospective students.

The Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) by Assessment Technologies Institute (ATI) is required to apply to PCC’s Associate Degree Nursing, Radiography, Respiratory Therapy, Medical Sonography, Cardiovascular Sonography, and Occupational Therapy Assistant Programs.

Students seeking entry into Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) or Emergency Medical Service (EMS) programs must take the CASAS.

The Placement Testing Center offers the CASAS at no charge to the student.

Finish High School

Adults who wish to earn a high school diploma by earning high school credits that were not earned in a traditional high school setting can do so through the Adult High School (AHS) program offered by the Transitional Studies Department.

Licenses and Certificates

The PCC Testing Center offers licensing testing (written portion only) for Cosmetology and Cosmetology disciplines – cosmetologist, esthetician, nail technician, and natural hair care. Qualified applicants must register through Prov.

The Placement Testing Center offers placement testing for Cosmetology at no charge to the student.

The National Career Readiness Certificate is a portable, nationally recognized credential that can help individuals get the job they want. Based on the proven ACT WorkKeys® system the NCRC gives job seekers proof of their workplace skills.

Services

Proctoring services may be requested by PCC instructors who would like to arrange make-up testing for their students who missed an in-class exam, or quiz.

The Placement Testing Center offers proctoring services, as a community service, during our nonpeak times.

PCC does charge for proctoring services based on the type of exam proctored.
