Admissions Event Tailored to Accommodate Adult Learners

WINTERVILLE—Pitt Community College will hold a special registration event Aug. 4 specifically designed for adult learners who want to take classes during the fall semester that begins Aug. 16.
According to PCC Recruitment and Orientation Specialist John Carrere, “Adult One-Stop Day” will take place from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. in Room 120 of the Craig F. Goess Student Center. The program, he said, offers adult learners a chance to complete multiple admission and enrollment requirements in a single day.
“Adult One-Stop Day” is part of PCC’s “Increase the Reach” campaign to build upon the positive enrollment momentum the college is experiencing this summer. For the past month, employees have personally contacted thousands of continuing and prospective students as part of the campaign in order to encourage them to sign up for fall classes.
PCC Vice President of Student Development Services Johnny Smith says “Increase the Reach” has been effective. The campaign, he said, has “created an enormous amount of traction” with students and added that fall enrollment is trending positively.
“First-time freshmen are flooding into our Student Development Services Admissions Office as well as our counseling services and Success Navigator departments,” Smith said. “New Student Orientation participation is already ahead of where we were this time last year.”
Smith says college personnel will continue to monitor and follow-up with new applicants. He says they will also coordinate with academic advisors to ensure the enrollment needs of continuing students are being met as well.
