Travis Kinsey, Ed.D, Director, TRiO Programs

Dr. Travis Kinsey serves as the Director of TRiO Programs at PCC. His primary responsibility is to provide leadership to the Student Support Services and the Educational Opportunity Center departments. Dr. Kinsey has a Ed.D, and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Management from East Carolina University. Additionally, he holds a Masters in Adult Education with an Emphasis in Training and Development from Central Michigan University. This is his 11th year in higher education. Prior to transitioning into higher education, he worked in the banking industry for over 3 years. Furthermore, Mr. Kinsey has taught Organizational Leadership, Strategic Leadership, and Human Resource Management at the collegiate level. He is passionate about helping students make decisions that could change their lives. His favorite quote is “I’m not telling you it’s going to be easy – I’m telling you it’s going to be worth it” by Art Williams.

Lori Cohens, MS, Program Coordinator/TRIO: Student Support Services (SSS)

Lori Cohens serves as the Program Coordinator and Counselor for TRiO: Student Support Services at PCC. In this role, Lori provides comprehensive and holistic support to students. She is passionate about working alongside students to achieve personal and academic goals, using a strengths-based approach to increase resiliency, and advocating for equitable and inclusive access to education and resources. Lori is a Safe Zone and Green Zone Ally. 

Prior to joining the team in June 2022, she worked as an academic advisor at PCC. She has also worked at East Carolina University and as a school counselor for Pitt County Schools. In her decade of service in education, she has worked at the university, community college, and K12 public school settings. She has served students of all ages and abilities.  

Lori holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science. She has a master’s degree in Counselor Education with a dual specialization in clinical mental health counseling and school counseling. As a life-long learner, she has studied Criminal Justice, Business, and Human Resources Management at the undergraduate and graduate level. She has a North Carolina license in school counseling (K-12) and several micro-credentials from ACUE’s Effective Practice Framework. Lori is a certified MBTI practitioner and has professional certifications in Trauma & Resilience.

Letita Joyner, MEL, MSA, Student Equity Specialist – Student Support Services and First Generation

Mrs. Letita Joyner serves as the Student Equity Specialist at PCC. Her primary responsibilities are to provide and create programs and resources that will support TRiO and First-Generation students.  Mrs. Joyner has a Bachelor of Science in Middle Grades Math Education with a concentration in Science from Fayetteville State University and a Master’s Degree in Executive Leadership with a concentration in K-12 School Administration from Grand Canyon University. She also holds a North Carolina Professional Educator’s Licensure in Middle Grades Math 6-9 and K – 12 North Carolina Administrator’s Licensure. She also holds a certification in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion from the University of South Florida. She is a certified Enneagram Facilitator. Mrs. Joyner has over 14 years of experience in Education ranging from Diversity and Inclusion programs, International Student Support Services, Math and Science Instruction, and Secondary Education Administration.  She is always ready and willing to serve others. Her favorite quote is “It always seems impossible until it is done” by Nelson Mandela.

Christine Humphrey, Administrative Assistant/Data Specialist

Mrs. Christine Humphrey

joined TRiO: Student Support Services staff in 2020 as the Administrative Assistant/Data Specialist. Mrs. Humphrey has received two Associates degrees from Pitt Community College in Business and two Bachelor’s degrees from North Carolina Wesleyan in Business Administration and Organization Administration.  She hold a certificate in Equity, Diversity and Inclusion from the University of South Florida
