High School Equivalency (HSE)

High School Equivalency (HSE) preparation classes are free of charge and are offered on-campus, online, and in the community. Classes begin monthly. Complete the Pre-Registration Form to get started!

Transitions Learning Center (TLC)

HSE students who require flexible access beyond regularly scheduled classes. The TLC has an open lab format where students can receive individual support and access to a number of resources.

Distance Learning

Online learning opportunities are available for students wishing to enhance classroom instruction or those who need the flexibility of learning from home. A face-to-face orientation is needed for instruction on how to use the available programs.

Financial Assistance

HSE students may be eligible for financial support through the Jennifer Knight Scholarship.

The Jennifer Knight Scholarship was established in 2001 by the parents of Jennifer Knight who was a High School Equivalency graduate. She lost her life in 2001 in an automobile accident. While alive, Jennifer often visited her Transitional Studies classes to motivate and inspire others to finish their education and pursue their goals. 

To qualify for this scholarship, you must:

• Be a 2025-2026 program year graduate of the Transitional Studies program.
• Be enrolled or planning to enroll at Pitt Community College (the scholarship only applies to PCC classes).
• Demonstrate good character in order to properly represent the positivity and perseverance of Jennifer Knight.
• Complete the essay.
