Social Services

The Social and Human Services – Social Services curriculum prepares students for entry-level positions in areas such as case management, income maintenance, and other social service programs. Emphasis in core courses is placed on social processes, cultural competences, diversity and ethical issues, community resources, and crisis intervention.

Graduates should qualify for positions working for local, state, and federal government agencies as well as a variety of public and private agencies that provide programming for children, adults, the aging, and families. Opportunities may also be available to work with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, mental illness, and/or substance use. Graduates choosing to continue their education may select from various programs at senior public and private institutions.
