HST – ARS Work-Based Learning
The opportunity to work in a human services agency is an invaluable experience providing the means to put into action the knowledge, skills, and attitudes acquired in curriculum courses while exploring future job opportunities. The student will identify a human service agency at which they will complete 9-12 hours of work for 16 weeks under the direction of an agency supervisor and the assigned faculty coordinator. The student will complete the clinical placement and a seminar/supervision course to integrate classroom work with the field placement.
Before a student is registered for Work-Based Learning, he/she must meet the following requirements:
- Successful completion of 12 semester hours in the HSE program
- Maintain a minimum Grade Point Average of 2.00 Human Services/Addiction and Recovery Studies
- Understand and demonstrate the ability to follow the Ethical Standards of Human Services Professionals
- Meet minimum competency criteria for Human Service workers as outlined in the Human Services Student Handbook
- Have a confirmed and approved placement site
- Correct submission of all required documentation to your faculty coordinator
