Mission and Outcomes

The mission of the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program at Pitt Community College is to educate and empower graduates with the knowledge, skills, and behaviors to be competent and professional entry-level sonographers.

GOAL 01 of the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program is to prepare competent entry-level sonographers in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains for the following concentrations: Abdominal Sonography-Extended and Obstetrics and Gynecology Sonography.

GOAL 02 of the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program is to actively recruit qualified students and provide a supportive learning environment for students enrolled in the program.

GOAL 03 of the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program is to meet or exceed all Standards and Guidelines for the Accreditation of Educational Program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography as defined by CAAHEP and the JRC-DMS.
