Note: As of February 15, 2024, the National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN-CNEA) changed the accreditation status for the Pitt Community College associate degree nursing program to probationary status for a period of one year (February 15, 2024- February 15, 2025). The reason for the change in status is due to our three-year NCLEX-RN average falling below the set benchmark due to low NCLEX first time pass rates for 2021 and 2022 which correlate primarily to a recently discovered test security breach and COVID. National accreditation is not required by North Carolina at this time (but it may change in the future) since it is another way programs can show their excellence.

Our 2023 first time NCLEX pass rates improved by 25% and the program has taken action to continue an upward progression first-time NCLEX scores achieved prior to the pandemic.

Full information regarding the probationary status is provided on the NLN CNEA website, under February 2024 Board of Commissioners actions: https://cnea.nln.org/board-of-commissioner-actions.
