Proud Partners in Education

Pitt Community College is Proud Partners in Education with Snap-on Tools and Petty’s Garage to bring a new era in Automotive Training to Pitt County and Eastern North Carolina. We are one of three Snap-on Certification Centers in NC and one of four schools in the Student Acceleration Program by Petty in NC. The two programs share common goals and ideas with the Pitt Community College Automotive Technology Department and the entire school. We all want to give students the best possible educational experience available and by partnering with these two great organizations it gives us the opportunity to do just that.

With Snap-on we have the opportunity to train students on the latest and most technologically advanced automotive diagnostic and service equipment available and the students receive industry recognized certifications in multiple areas including Diagnostic, Multimeter, Wheel Service, and Torque while working toward and Associates Degree in Automotive Technology and other curriculums. Snap-on has really stepped up to the plate to help colleges all over the world get not only the equipment needed to train the workforce of tomorrow but to equip the instructors with knowledge and training to do it proficiently. This partnership has been ongoing and developing for many years and we have only just begun to see the endless potential for the students of PCC and the industries in Pitt and surrounding counties.

With Petty’s Garage students from multiple curriculums including Automotive Technology, Manufacturing and Machining Technology, Welding Fabrication Technology, and Marketing will have opportunities to experience being part of the Petty Team. This will include expanded job shadowing, tours, and training for select students each year along with students from PCC being given chances at employment opportunities within the Petty organization and other affiliates. The Automotive Technology Department will have access to engine and power train race parts to use for training purposes in various classes and have access to a wealth of knowledge within the Petty organization. This program is rapidly evolving and being developed by a team from the involved colleges and Petty’s Garage and PCC is fortunate to be involved from the ground floor.

The combination of the Snap-on Certification Program and Petty’s Student Acceleration Program along with the team from PCC and the new first class Automotive Technology facility add up to a winning combination that give students a jump start on the competition. We are very excited about these opportunities and have been working hard for a long time to get to this point.
