Pitt Community College is required to provide current and prospective students with information for filing complaints. Pitt Community College strives to resolve complaints in a fair and timely manner.

Pitt Community College Complaint Process

Students who desire to resolve a complaint should first refer to Pitt Community College’s Student Complaints Policy. Please familiarize yourself with the policy before submitting a complaint. Complaints can be reported through our Student Complaint Report Form.

NC Post-Secondary Education Complaint Process

A student may file a complaint with the North Carolina Post-Secondary Education Complaints unit. First review the NC Post-Secondary Student Complaint Policy (PDF). Then submit their complaint using the NC Post-Secondary Education Student Complaint Online Form.

SARA-NC Complaint Process

Students may also file a complaint through SARA-NC. The North Carolina State Education Assistance Authority (NCSEAA) serves as the SARA portal entity for North Carolina with the responsibilities defined by the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (SARA). Students should follow the SARA-NC Complaint Process and use the SARA-NC Complaint Form (PDF). Submit the complaint to:

SACSCOC Student Complaint Process

Pitt Community College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award Associate Degrees. Degree-granting institutions also may offer credentials such as certificates and diplomas at approved degree levels. Students may follow the SACSCOC Complaint Procedure (PDF) and Submission Form (PDF).

Inquiries to SACSCOC should relate only to the accreditation status of the institution and not to general admission requirements, financial aid, educational programs or issues involving application of academic regulations.

SACSCOC expects individuals to attempt to resolve complaints against the College through all means available to the student, including following the College’s own procedures, before submitting a complaint to the Commission. Therefore, the Commission’s usual practice is not to consider a complaint that is currently in administrative proceedings, including institutional proceedings, or in litigation. However, if there is substantial, credible evidence that indicates systemic problems with an accredited institution, the Commission may, at its discretion, choose to proceed with the review.

The Commission will not entertain complaints that are not in writing or which are anonymous, nor will it consider complaints sent electronically or through facsimile transmission. In addition, the Commission will not act on complaints submitted on behalf of another individual or complaints forwarded to the Commission.
