We are pleased that the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) has reaffirmed Pitt Community College’s accreditation unconditionally for 10 years. SACSCOC is the regional accrediting body that accredits schools and colleges in the southern United States.
The College’s reaffirmation of accreditation is validation of our adherence to high standards for academic excellence. Of particular note is that SACSCOC reaffirmed our accreditation with no required follow up reports or conditions. The accreditation process is exceptionally important in that it helps our college maintain high academic and student standards, foster public confidence in our academic value, and supports the critical function of peer review within higher education. Regional accreditation makes the College eligible for certain grants and federal aid programs. It also helps ensure that Pitt Community College fulfills its mission and gives employees the opportunity to gauge performance and identify areas for improvement.
To have our accreditation reaffirmed, the College documented compliance with the SACSCOC Principles of Accreditation. Please review this site to access a variety of information related to our 2012 compliance certification and our upcoming 2018 5th year report for compliance.
Many people deserve recognition for their contribution to the College’s successful reaffirmation of accreditation. The Planning and Research Office gratefully acknowledges all individuals who worked tirelessly to help the College achieve this success.
