It's important for students to know what Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) is and what PCC has selected for its QEP. Many students will be participants of the plan and will provide feedback to faculty.

Accreditation status indicates that Pitt Community College meets the standards of quality set by the accreditation organization in terms of faculty, curriculum, administration, libraries, financial well-being, and student services. New students, returning students, and families of students can trust that the education they are paying for at Pitt Community College is valuable and worth their time, money, and effort.
Financial aid opportunities
Federal financial aid is available only to students who enroll at a college, university, or other institution of higher learning that has been accredited by an accreditation organization that has been reviewed and approved by the United States Department of Education.
Accreditation is an important factor when Pitt Community College is deciding whether to accept transfer credit from a student's previous school. Most colleges and universities will not accept transferred course credits from an institution that has not earned appropriate accreditation status from an accreditation organization.
Success in the workplace
Most employers look to see that job applicants and employees have been educated at an appropriately accredited institution when making decision about hiring, promotions, advancements, and providing tuition coverage or assistance. In fact, PCC will not consider a person for a faculty position unless the candidate's degree is from a regionally accredited institution.
