PCC Students Being Encouraged to Compete in Business Pitch Contest for Cash Grants

GREENVILLE—Every business has a story, and they’ll soon have a chance to tell it as part of CompePITTch'in, a contest that will give the community’s prospective business owners an opportunity to pitch business ideas for cash grants, practice delivering their pitches, and network with other entrepreneurs.

Scheduled for February, CompePITTch'in is the product of a partnership between the City of Greenville, Pitt Community College, Pitt County Development Commission, East Carolina University, SEED, Greenville-Pitt County Chamber of Commerce, and Uptown Greenville. The goal is to promote small business and startup success.

CompePITTch'in is open to individuals, including PCC students, and teams. For-profit businesses are eligible to apply.

Entries are due by Jan. 31, and finalists will be notified by Feb. 7. The actual event is set for Feb. 21 at 6 p.m. at StillLife in Greenville, which is located at 511 Cotanche Street.

The grand prize will be at least $6,000 with second place earning $3,600, and third place taking home $2,400.

Applications are available through the PCC website. It is important to note that applying does not guarantee an opportunity to pitch.
