First-Time Freshmen at Pitt Must Attend NSO

WINTERVILLE—Students planning to attend Pitt Community College this fall are being encouraged to complete an admission application and sign up for a New Student Orientation session.

Several orientation sessions will be held in the Craig F. Goess Student Center in July, according to PCC Recruitment and Orientation Specialist John Carrere, who says the program plays an important role in helping new students get off to the right start.

In addition to offering newcomers an opportunity to sign up for fall classes, Carrere says orientation features important information on financial aid, academic success while transitioning into college life, and special admission requirements for select programs.

Understanding the orientation’s key role in student success, PCC administrators made it mandatory for first-time college freshmen to attend the program in 2016.

“Attending an orientation session is a vital step in a new student’s entry to college,” Carrere says. “Connecting with our campus gives students the momentum to progress successfully in their academic programs.”

Students must sign up for an orientation session online by visiting the "Student Orientation" page on PCC’s official website.

Carrere noted that online registration requires a myPittCC account and login information that is provided in every student’s PCC acceptance letter.
