WINTERVILLE—The Pitt Community College Construction and Industrial Technology Division announced this month that the Pitt County Electrical Contractors Association (PCECA) has awarded scholarships to Electrical Systems Technology students William Filmore and Tester Williams.

Filmore, a Greenville resident, and Williams, who is from Kinston, will receive $500 each from PCECA in recognition of their academic excellence and outstanding practical skills. The awards come through the association’s John Payne Electrical Scholarship Fund, which was established to honor a former Pitt County electrical inspector and encourage individuals to pursue careers in the electrical trade.

Filmore and Williams are more than halfway through the Electrical Systems Technology curriculum. Their scholarships will help pay for expenses in their final semesters.

PCECA representatives Jimmy Benson, Osborne Clark, Jonathan Pennypacker and Mike Benson visited PCC July 22 to present Filmore and Williams with their scholarships.
