The PCC Alumni Association is gearing up for its annual Bulldog Run fundraiser. The event, which got its start in 2011, will take place on the PCC campus April 6.

WINTERVILLE—The Pitt Community College Alumni Association is signing up runners for next month’s Bulldog Run events to generate funding for student scholarships and educational activities at the college.

This year’s Bulldog Run will take place on campus April 6, starting with a USATF-certified 5K road race at 2 p.m. A One-Mile Family Fun Run/Walk will start moments later and is to be followed by a Kids Dash at approximately 2:45 p.m. All races will be run on flat pavement.

Those planning to participate in this year’s Bulldog Run may register online at http://pccbulldogrun.com/ or sign up on race day near Lewis Field House (part of Minges-Overton Baseball Complex) between 1 p.m. and 1:45 p.m. Event T-shirts are only guaranteed to those who pre-register for the 5K and One-Mile Family Fun Run/Walk.

The 5K entry fee is $20 for runners who sign up prior to March 26. After that, the cost is $25 per person.

For those who sign up for the Family Fun Run/Walk before March 26, the cost is $10. The fee is $15 once that date has passed.

There is no cost for children 10 and under to participate in the Kids Dash and activity stations set up to entertain youngsters throughout the event, though each child must be supervised by a Bulldog Run participant.

At the conclusion of the 5K race, prizes, including medallions crafted by PCC Machining Technology students, will be awarded to the top three overall male and female winners. The top three male and female runners from eight different age categories will also receive awards. Chip scoring will be provided by Run the East.

Prior to the 5K race will be the inaugural Bulldog Beauty Contest at 1 p.m. The event, which will take place near Lewis Field House, is open to various bulldog breeds with awards presented for Most Beautiful, Most PCC Spirit, Most Original and Best in Show. The Best in Show winner will have the honor of serving as PCC’s official mascot for one year.

Registration for the beauty contest begins at 12:15 p.m. on the day of the event. For more details, call (252) 493-PITT.

Proceeds from next month’s activities will benefit the PCC Foundation.
