Continuing Education Division Introduces Online Course on Social Media in Business

WINTERVILLE—The Pitt Community College Continuing Education Division announced this month the launch of a new course through its ed2go partnership on “Using Social Media in Business.”

The course, which is one of hundreds of noncredit online programs PCC offers through ed2go, will teach participants how to use five of the most popular social media platforms—Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest and Google+—to grow and promote their businesses. They'll also learn how to build a social media team, automate social media activities, and measure and track social media success.

According to PCC Continuing Education Dean David Lusk, the new social media course is part of PCC’s growing catalog of more than 300 instructor-facilitated online courses.

“Through well-crafted lessons, expert online instruction, and interaction with fellow students, participants in these courses gain valuable knowledge at their convenience,” Lusk said. “Students have the flexibility to study at their own pace but have enough structure and support to complete the course – and they can access the classroom 24/7 from anywhere with an Internet connection.”

New sessions of each ed2go course run every month. They last six weeks, with two new lessons being released weekly (for a total of 12).

The courses are entirely Web-based with comprehensive lessons, quizzes and assignments. A dedicated, professional instructor facilitates every course by pacing learners, answering questions, giving feedback and facilitating discussions.
