AST Program to Hold Cruise-In/Open House

North Carolina racing legend Richard Petty's 1981 Buick stock car will be on public display during the PCC Automotive System Technology's "2nd Annual Cruise-In/Open House," which is scheduled to take place Oct. 12 at the college.

WINTERVILLE—Pitt Community College's Automotive Systems Technology Department will hold its “Second Annual Cruise-In/Open House” on Oct. 12, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., outside of the college’s Construction and Industrial Technology (CIT) Building.

Similar to last year’s event, the cruise-in will feature vintage, classic and muscle cars, pro-street race cars and hot rods, Snap-on tool displays, raffles and the Petty's Garage Show Rig. Also on display will be the Buick stock car Richard Petty drove to victory lane in NASCAR’s 1981 Daytona 500.

The CIT Building, which houses PCC’s Automotive Systems and Building Construction programs, will be open to the public throughout the event.

In lieu of an entry fee, those planning to attend next month’s event are asked to bring food items that can be donated to the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina.
