PCC Receives Grant from N.C. Biotech Center
WINTERVILLE—Pitt Community College’s Office of Sponsored Programs recently announced that the N.C. Biotechnology Center has awarded chemistry instructor Olga Paine a $19,137-grant to provide pharmaceutical-tailored training to biotechnology students.
According to Helen Parke, Director of PCC’s Office of Sponsored Programs, the training will focus on analytical laboratory techniques, such as UV-visible spectrophotometry and high-pressure liquid chromatography.
Parke said the grant project would include course development, offering the course to students, and evaluation of the course to meet project goals. The experience, she said, will assist students in learning pharmaceutical industry-related concepts.
The first course offering will be during the 2013 Spring Semester, Parke said.
