Moffitt Now Richard Petty Motorsports CEO
WINTERVILLE—Pitt Community College graduate Brian Moffitt has been named Chief Executive Officer at Richard Petty Motorsports (RPM), a Concord-based racing operation that cars that compete in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.
“We’ve worked hard to put together a solid executive management team,” team co-owner Richard Petty said in an RPM news release. “Brian Moffitt has played an important role in the Petty organization for many years. He knows the ins and outs and strengths and weaknesses of this organization, and he was an obvious choice to lead the team.”
A 1994 graduate of PCC’s Marketing and Retailing and Business Administration curriculums, Moffitt received an Outstanding Alumni Award from his alma mater in 2008 and was featured on the cover of the college’s very first edition of Career Focus magazine in 2005. Upon completion of his studies at Pitt, Moffitt attended East Carolina University.
Prior to his appointment as CEO, Moffitt served as executive vice president of sales and marketing for RPM. A Petty employee since June 1996, he oversaw the acquisition of sponsorship and services for team owner Richard Petty and his entries in NASCAR. Before that, he was a sales representative at United Parcel Service.
Raised in Randleman, Moffitt now lives in Trinity with his wife, Rebecca, and their three children, Helen, Thaddeus and Harrison.
This week, RPM announced that driver Aric Almirola will drive the organization’s legendary 43 car during the 2012 season. Marcos Ambrose returns this year to drive RPM’s 9 car.
