Events and Activities
The PCC Amateur Radio Club partipates in several contesting events throughout the year. Club members are encouraged to participate in event planning, preparation, execution, and follow-up.
The School Club Roundup contest is held each spring and fall semester during the months of February and October. This event is primarily for school amateur radio clubs and organizations. The contest is divided into several "classes" defined by the school level (i.e. elementary, high school, college, etc.). More information about the School Club Roundup, including past contest results, are available at the ARRL SCR website.
Field Day is a contest held annually on the fourth full weekend of June. This contest is not limited to only schools or clubs, but any amateur radio operator in the United States, Canada, and certain select countries. Participants compete by attempting to contact as many stations as possible within a 24-hour period using emergency power and (usually) portable and temporary operating conditions. The PCC ARC participates in this event each summer. More information about Field Day can be found on the ARRL website.
The PCC ARC also attends at least one hamfest each year. Local hamfests are held in Kinston, Raleigh, and Charlotte, NC, as well as Richmond and Virginia Beach, VA.
Spring Fling and Fall Festival are also big events for the PCC ARC. The club hosts a booth where a fundraising activity is utilized to raise funds for the club. Please come by our booth and see what's happening during these on-campus festivals!
