Women's History Celebration

Each March, PCC recognizes a female employee with the "Woman of Substance Award" for outstanding campus and community involvement, attitude of service, commitment and caring, and willingness to 'go the extra mile.'

"Honoring Trailblazing Women in Labor and Business"

March 8, 2017

12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Craig F. Goess Student Center J. Paul and Diana S. Davenport Multipurpose Room

Every year since 2001, PCC has held a program to celebrate the achievements of women. The event is held each March in conjunction with the nation's observance of Women's History Month.

The national theme for the 2017 Women's History Month celebration is "Honoring Trailblazing Women in Labor and Business."

Speakers for this year's event are Carol Shields, Director of Roanoke River Partners, Angela Garris, owner of Garris Grading & Paving, Inc., and Sheila Leggette, owner of a variety of successful NuLook businesses. All three have unique connections to PCC and will share their stories.

As part of the college's celebration of women's history, PCC recognizes a female employee with the "Woman of Substance Award" for outstanding campus and community involvement, attitude of service, commitment and caring, and willingness to 'go the extra mile.' Get the 2017 nomination form.

PCC will announce the winner of the 2017 Woman of Substance Award following the panel discussion.
