PCC Leads Late But Tar Heels Pull out Win
CHAPEL HILL—Pitt Community College led late but couldn’t hold on in falling to the UNC-Chapel Hill JV squad, 85-82, in the Dean E. Smith Center on Tuesday.
The loss was PCC’s fourth straight, dropping the team to 3-4 overall this season.
The Bulldogs erased a 43-34 halftime deficit in the second half to take a 71-66 advantage with 4:25 to go. Pitt led 81-80 with 1:31 remaining before the Tar Heels capitalized on a layup and foul in the final 30 seconds to capture the victory.
James Nolan led all scorers with 19 for PCC while teammate Demetrio Irby added 18.
Chris McLawhorn and Darren Wilson led the Bulldogs on the boards with 11 rebounds each.
Pitt made 26-of-38 free throws for the game.
Denzel Robinson and Kyle Currie scored 16 and 12 points, respectively, for Carolina, which improved to 5-0 this season.
Next up for PCC is Wake Tech at home Dec. 1. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. in the Charles Coburn Center.
