Bulldogs Earn Sixth Win on Alumni Day
WINTERVILLE—Pitt Community College won its last home game of the season, 105-70, on Saturday over Vance-Granville Community College in front of a large crowd that came out to celebrate Alumni Day.
The Bulldogs got off to a quick start and took a 51-40 advantage into the break.
PCC capitalized on free throws in the second half, shooting better than 72 percent to secure the team’s sixth win of the season. The victory was Pitt’s fifth in the last seven games.
Darren Wilson led the Bulldogs with 30 points and 12 rebounds. Marcus Cherry scored a career-high 20 points, and Chuckie Becton added 13.
Sophomore Jon Setters scored 28 points for PCC in his final home game.
Derrick Knight led the Vanguards with 20 points.
The Bulldogs will face Catawba Valley Community College on March 5 in the Region X Tournament at Rockingham Community College in Wentworth, beginning at 5 p.m.
