Basketball's Winning Streak Ends at Three
JAMESTOWN—Pitt Community College’s three-game winning streak came to a halt Saturday with a 73-69 loss to Guilford Technical Community College.
Despite the final result, PCC put up a good fight throughout the contest. The Bulldogs led early but trailed 29-26 at the half.
GTCC increased its advantage to 11 points with seven minutes left to play before Pitt battled back to tie the game at 61-61 at the 2:01 mark.
The Bulldogs clung to a one-point lead with 41 seconds remaining but missed two consecutive free throws.
GTCC knocked down a 3-pointer to go ahead 71-69 with 11 seconds left. Pitt misfired on its next possession, and the Titans made good on a pair of free throws to seal the victory.
Tyrelle Jackson poured in 23 points to pace the Bulldogs offensively. Chuckie Becton had 17 points, and Darrien Ince added 11 more for Pitt.
