Bulldogs Fall to Wake Tech in Coburn Center
WINTERVILLE—Pitt Community College returned to the Charles Coburn Center for the first time in a month Tuesday but couldn’t get past visiting Wake Tech in an 88-74 loss.
The Bulldogs dug a hole early against the Eagles, scoring just five points in the first 12 minutes. Wake Tech, meanwhile, scored 21 unanswered at one point en route to a 43-27 halftime lead.
The Eagles held a 70-57 advantage with a little less than six minutes remaining before a furious Pitt comeback made it 77-71 at the 2:33 mark. But Zack Allen, who finished 4-for-7 from behind the 3-point line, put the game away for Wake with a 3-pointer with 57.8 seconds to go to make it 82-74.
PCC would not get any closer, turning the ball over on each of its final three possessions.
Jon Setters led all scorers with 26 points for Pitt on 8-of-11 shooting, including a 5-for-7 effort from beyond the arc. Tyrelle Jackson added 15 points for the Bulldogs, and Josh Cody chipped in with 13.
Led by Allen’s 19 points, Wake Tech had six players finish in double figures scoring. Jahvah Braswell scored 13, Brandon Richardson and Julian Martin had 12 each, and Karl Agenor and A.J. Smith finished with 10 points apiece.
PCC (1-11, 1-8 Region X) returns to action tonight at 7 against Louisburg in the Coburn Center.
